We are fast closing out 2013 and as I look back on my year as your President, I am pleased with all that the Chapter has accomplished. It was obvious to everyone who attended last month’s Annual Awards and Installation Dinner that the Industry has much to celebrate, as we highlighted significant growth in new members, historic high membership retention, increased attendance at all of our member events and continued successes in governmental affairs. Much was accomplished in 2013 and I believe that we have even more to look forward to in the New Year.

I would again like to highlight the outstanding individuals and companies who all received awards at this year’s Annual Awards and Installation Dinner. The President’s Award went to my fellow Board Member Joel Morse of T & B PlanningThe Clayton R. Record, Jr. Volunteer of the Year Award was awarded to Trina Richards of the Temeka GroupThe 2013 Associate of the Year Award went to Rick Muth, President of Orco BlockThe Builder of the Year Award was awarded to the Stratham Group of Companies, President, Ali RaziThe Outstanding Leadership Award is given to an individual who is not a member of the Building Industry Association, but demonstrates a positive impact to the Association from their work in government or in the community. This year’s recipient was Juan Perez, Director Riverside County Transportation Land Management Agency.

I would also like thank my 2013 Board of Directors and congratulate the Board Members whose terms of office continue in 2014. We also had two Chapter Board Members who have faithfully represented the Industry for many years that will not continue in their capacity as a Board of Director Member in 2014. They are Michael Van Daele, Van Daele Development and John Adams, Chicago Title. I thank them for their years of leadership and service to the Industry. I am also excited to introduce to you five Industry Leaders who have agreed to begin their service in 2014 as a Board Member of the Riverside County Building Industry Association. The newest members are as follows: Scott Wright Pulte Group, Brice Kittle, Sheffield Homes, Marty Langpap, Standard Pacific, Jeff Clemens, Lennar and Michael Vairin, Melia Homes. I must say that our 2014 Board of Director’s which will be led by Jay Pierce, JD Pierce Company is a very strong group of leaders who will take the Chapter to a new level of success.

I would also like to thank our 2013 Chapter Partnership participants who made it possible to hold a full schedule of networking, educational and fun events like the annual Wine event, the golf tournament, wine tour and the Annual Awards and Installation Dinner. If you have not already done so, please take a few moments and sign up for our 2014 Chapter Partnership Program. The partnership program is the best way for the Association Member to manage your BIA costs throughout the year and to help underwrite a portion of the event costs. This program is also another way for the industry to see your level of commitment to the Association by the partner’s company name to be prominently placed at all of our events and on numerous printed materials. Again, thank you so much to our generous 2013 partners and to all of you who have already made your commitment for 2014.

As this year draws to a close, I am excited for the Chapter’s future as most of the Industry is now seeing light at the end of the tunnel. As a result of this continued success, companies are now planning for growth in the New Year. As the Industry continues to grow, my friend Jay Pierce will on January 1st become your new President. Under Jay’s leadership your BIA Chapter will be in great hands.   I am also humbled to have been officially elected to be the next President of the Building Industry Association of Southern California. I also will begin my new BIA journey on January 1st as I will officially become the President of the entire Association. Thank you to all of you who have made this year successful.
