Nearly 30 years ago, a day after graduating from the University of Southern California, earning a degree in Public Administration he started his career with the Robert P. Warmington Company as an Assistant Project Manager. Serving Warmington for the next 13 years as Director of Land Development he cut his teeth on Warmington’s Moreno Valley Ranch project. At the time, the largest Master Planned Community developed in Riverside County with over 14,000 lots, golf courses, new schools and a RCC Campus and over $71MM in infrastructure.

Dan’s development background extended into developing land throughout the Western United States including residing in Durango, Colorado where he managed the development of hundreds of acres into residential development.  He then returned to California as Vice President of Entitlements for Greenpark, a newly formed Wall Street land investment firm specializing in land development from remediated land resources.

For the past 13 years Dan has served on D.R. Horton’s senior management team as Vice President of Entitlements for the largest homebuilder in America, and he oversees all entitlement activities from the Mexican border, to Orange County, including the low and high desert regions.   In this position at Horton he has entitled thousands of lots and has worked in nearly every major City.

In addition to Dan’s responsibilities at D.R. Horton he also serves the BIA as a second term Member of BIASC’s Governing Board and for the past three years as a Member of both Riverside and LA/Ventura’s Board of Directors.  In 2013, Dan has been named President of the Riverside Board bringing with him a great deal of experience, industry knowledge, and a high level of enthusiasm.

Dan’s love for the industry and what his is well known for is his ability to network at all agency levels: He believes in knowing the processes, the people, and most importantly he says of his entitlement success – listen!  He prides himself and making projects happen on time!  He is hands on with every project whether a small of track of 50 lots or 750 lots.  He is a consummate communicator and he listens to those surrounding him!  He is not timid or shy.  He will speak his mind but most importantly he is a firm believer in working with a team!  He adores the industry and his reputation as a solid member of this industry is well known and respected.  When he walks into a decision maker’s office it can be expected that Dan will affect a solution and keep his projects moving forward.  He often will say if you cannot “paint the picture of the problem” you’re never going to solve it!  He is well known for his personable approach in working with people and when he lands a new approval at a City Council meeting his first handshake is to the Planner.

Dan’s other passion is law enforcement, while climbing the ranks in his industry he joined the Newport Beach Police Department and Orange County Sheriff’s Office as a Reserve Peace Officer.  For a decade he was a weekend cop and served on many details. Dan’s family moved to Newport Beach when he was an infant and has resided in town throughout his life. He prefers to stay close to home rather than travel and simply enjoys his hometown. In Dan’s spare time he spends time with his Aussies and cares for over 50 varieties of roses in his yard. He also loves to entertain and cook for his friends.
