President's Message | Feb 2018

Greetings Members & Associates,

If the first two months of 2018 are any indication as to the year ahead, we have some exciting times in store.  While 2017 was busy for builders, there is every indication that this year will be even busier.

With the new year we have new additions to the Board of Directors for the Riverside County Chapter of the Building Industry Association. I want to take this opportunity to welcome our newest Board Members James Furey of Richmond American Homes, and Randall Richards of Reliable Wholesale Lumber. Both gentlemen bring a wealth of talent and experience to an already strong board.  It is a pleasure to work with such an impressive group of industry leaders.

This team will help guide our way through the challenges facing our industry, specifically regarding proposed fee increases. There are currently several cities, agencies and special districts in the process of considering the adoption of new fee studies. Of note, the cities of Cathedral City, Lake Elsinore, along with Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District (EVMWD) and Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) are high on the BIA’s radar. The relationships with elected officials that our association has developed throughout Riverside County continue to pay dividends but remaining engaged is vital as we move forward this year.

We continue to have incredible success with our Partnership Program, in which we partner with our members for all the events of the year.  Thank you to our 2017 Partners who were able to use their partnership points to attend all events and allow us to increase the footprint of the BIA.  There is still time to sign up and take advantage of the benefits of the 2018 Partnership Program. The investment that you make now will come back to your organization many times over. Please contact Brenda Le, Director of Events & Marketing for more information on the Partnership Program.

By working together, as a united front, we as an industry continue to face down challenges as they present themselves.  The old adage that there is strength in numbers remains true and is what makes the BIA a potent force and an influential voice.  It is an honor to serve as your Chapter President and I look forward to working with you in the year ahead.

Best Regards
