President's Message | June 2019

Summer is a season long anticipated and seemingly short lived. The season serves as a reminder that we must act with haste and not miss opportunity when it presents itself. With this in mind, I want to take a moment to share with you some of the amazing things taking place at our local Chapter and why, if you haven’t already done so, you need to take advantage of this opportunity to join this great organization.

First, I have some exciting news regarding our recent May Membership Drive. This year our Membership Services Committee went above and beyond in their efforts and brought in a whopping 29 new members! Through the hard work of our membership committee, the Chapter continues to grow in numbers and in strength.

If you missed the opportunity to join during the May Drive, don’t worry, you still have the chance to join with some of the best and brightest in the industry. Our members include builders, subcontractors, engineers, designers and many more. As you may know, the BIA is the strongest advocate on behalf of the building industry and serves as a great place to network and grow your business.

Speaking of networking, the next member only event, Meet the Builder, will be held in Anaheim Hills on July 18th at the Anaheim Hills Golf Club. This is a fantastic event and serves as a great opportunity for members to meet with more than 25 Southern California Builders all under one roof. This event is special in that it provides a venue where you can shake hands with decision makers from Purchasing, Sales & Marketing, Land Acquisition and Project Management teams. In short, this is one of my favorite events and I am looking forward to seeing you there.

Recently our Chapter hosted a series of events, including the 1) Annual Legislative Affairs Committee Luncheon, where we heard from Congressman Ken Calvert; 2) The State of Housing in the Inland Empire conference which we held in collaboration with the Urban Land Institute; and most recently the Leaders of Tomorrow Builder Unplugged event, where I had the opportunity to speak along with two other panelists. Each of these events had a great turnout and provides just a small sample of the what the Riverside Chapter has to offer its members.

When you join our Chapter, you get to be part of a great community of members and you have the opportunity to get involved. Whether you want to participate in one of our committees, sit on our board of directors, or volunteer at an event, your involvement is critical to our collective success. Here’s looking forward to working together!
