In partnership with ULI (Urban Land Institute) Orange County & Inland Empire, our 3rd Annual State of Housing in the Inland Empire was held on May 23rd at Riverside Convention Center. Opening remarks were provided by Mike Taylor, Chapter President and Division President of Pardee Homes. This year Vitner focused on the Global issues affecting our economy, from Brexit, to China and tariffs. How they ultimately affect our home building industry. He touches on housing affordability and housing values, their effects with the California housing market. As well as Governor Newsom’s housing plan to tackle housing shortage and affordability in California.
Al Zelinka, City Manager of City of Riverside shared developments and improvements in downtown. From the expansion of Riverside Convention Center to multiple infill projects slatted to increase housing units in the downtown area. Riverside continues to grow and become the metropolitan of the Inland Empire. Stephen Jordan, Senior Vice President of The New Home Company featured their newest community in South Corona, Bedford. A gated, 276 acre residential village against the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains offering 1,621 lots with five different communities. This project is in conjunction to the Cajalco Road/ I-15 Interchange Improvement Project. Which will widen Cajalco Road from two to six lanes from Temescal Canyon Road to Bedford Canyon Road. Overall, our take away from the speakers is that the Inland Empire continues to grow. Cities throughout Riverside County continues to be innovative and finding strategic partnerships to meet the needs of it various communities.
