President's Message | March 2013

2013 Chapter President, Dan Boyd-DR HortonWOW! At my last report I coined our former Chapter President Mark Torres’ phrase that 2013 will be the year we “Bounce” back into the market…Well, today, that “Bounce” feels like a “Kick in the Stomach….”  Now for all of us who have survived that past few downturns and the most recent being an avalanche, I can say that if you ask any land guy out there on the streets “We are back...”

The key is sustainability, so while sales are being reported across many of our regions as robust, we are also seeing traffic increase and that excitement is a great feeling for all of our Membership!  Let’s just hope that we continue to keep on a strong roll into the fast approaching selling season and our watchful eyes to make sure that we all do what we can to support the big “Bounce” throughout 2013!

Part of that “Bounce” is a rebound to our efforts in Membership!  – As one organization we are all focused in working to hit our Membership goals.  In 2013 we have a combined effort, starting with our Chapters for an organization wide goal of over 1000 members.  To achieve the goal we really need your help to spread the word!

Under the simplified one organization format, one membership covers a member’s involvement at all four chapters (Riverside County, Orange County, Blady View and LA/Venture) of BIA of Southern California, California BIA (CBIA) and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB)!  Believe me if anyone is unclear as to what we are doing on a daily basis at all three levels of representation contact us.  We are here to service our membership and would welcome the opportunity to share with you what we’re doing for our members.

Coming up we have a fantastic Builder panel event being held on March 21st at Eagle Glen Golf Club in Corona!  – Division Presidents’ from KB Homes, Lennar, Richmond American and CEO of Lewis Group of Companies are our honored guests talking about their perspective of where the Industry is today and their views of the future!  The event will be a great opportunity to meet and have cocktails, dinner and mingle with your peers!   You cannot ask for a better line up of industry leaders, do not miss out!  Bring someone that is not a member and let’s sign them up!  – Myself along with a number of BIA Staff will be on hand to mingle and help spread the word why a BIA Membership is a proven valuable tool ….See you there for sure!

For a bit more fun do not miss our Annual Golf Event and Wine Tour being held on April 5th at the Temecula Creek Inn Golf Course! – Now, like me you do not have to be a golf nut to enjoy this event, we do offer the option of the Wine Tour for wine novices and enthusiasts alike.

A last sound bite, stay in touch with HomeAid, the charitable arm of BIA.  They have made some incredible achievements with support and providing transitional homes for the less fortunate.  If you would like to know more about HomeAid’s upcoming plans or to get involved please contact Riverside County BIA.  We will be happy to connect you!

Any if any of you would like to speak directly to me about anything we are doing feel free to call me directly at 951.739.5444 and I would love to hear your ideas, suggestions and comments….

All of us at the BIA wish you the best of success and let us know how we can better help you in the future!!!

Dan Boyd
