With all that we have survived over the past few years, from a historical economic and residential downturn, to our financial and lending institutions in chaos, I can say with great pride that our industry is on a rebound for 2013. The storm clouds have not all cleared; we can see the blue sky above….
As our immediate past President Mark Torres coined, “2013 will be our year to bounce back.” I would like to amend by saying; we are going to “plunge” back into better times! All of us at Riverside BIA are standing tall, ready, and excited to make 2013 a great year for our Members!
Moving into 2013 let’s shed the year of doom and gloom messaging and start focusing on the big “bounce” back into 2013! We all deserve to pat ourselves on the back. How we do that is with each new building permit issued, new home starts, model openings, and seeing that moving van pull up signaling home ownership is back on track for a much improved year. We at BIA are proud to be part of our Members’ successes and we will continue to represent all of our Members with all that we have.
For us at the Riverside BIA we may face decreasing fee reductions as our economy improves. We are challenged daily with continued legislative efforts to curtail costly new legislation, needless new regulations, which add to the cost of homeownership and impede our path to recovery. This year our Board has included a new tool in our toolbox called the “Network Resource Committee” wherein each Board Member will take ownership of their respective trades, skills and backgrounds to assist our Staff with “whatever” comes our way to better increase and serve our Membership!
This year you will see a greater level of Board participation. We are encouraging our Board to reach out and help generate success at all of our events. Starting soon with the upcoming January 22nd Annual Inland Empire Economic Forecast, which will be held at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium. We hope to see as many members and industry friends sign up and attend this great forum featuring Dr. Esmael Adibi, Director of the A Gary Anderson Center for Economic Research, Chapman University
With the re-organization of our Association there are still bugs being worked out. We are confident that the “one organization” will serve to be a stronger foundation for all Chapters to prosper. Your Riverside Chapter has a solid financial position to start 2013 and we are excited to start many new programs such as the Chapter’s local internship/mentor program that will get our young aspiring college leaders excited to learn more about the building industry and rolling this program under my term will be one of my most exciting moments serving as your President.
And, as noted in my incoming installation speech we will be calling upon each of you for your support and “tapping” into our Members’ combined wealth of knowledge to better serve all of our Membership. So to a successful 2013 and to all of our great Members we here at the Riverside Chapter are proud and honored to serve on your behalf. I hope that all of you can calendar as many events as possible and encourage all of you to stop by the Chapter’s house to simply say hi and know that we are working hard to make this year a clear “bounce” back into prosperity!
