New SoCalGas® program offers rebates to builders of new single-family and multi-family projects SoCalGas has developed a straightforward and direct way to support builders throughout Southern California.

The Energy Efficient New Homes (EENH) Program provides rebates to builders of eligible new residential construction projects that meet State of California Title 24 Energy efficiency Standards and are equipped with qualifying natural gas appliances and controller devices.

Only production and custom single-family homes and low rise and high-rise multi-family projects built in the SoCalGas service territory and served by SoCalGas may be eligible. Rebates are offered at two levels, a “Baseline Level” and a “Bonus Level” (each as described below). A builder must first fulfill the requirements of the Baseline Level to be eligible for Bonus Level rebates. The Baseline Level requires that a qualifying appliance be installed in the new home in each of three categories:

1. Natural gas water heating
2. Natural gas space heating
3. Smart thermostat

In multi-family projects, a qualifying boiler controller must also be installed with any central boiler system and is also rebate-eligible. A cash rebate is available for each category. Two tiers of rebate are offered based on the energy efficiency of the installed appliance, with higher-efficiency models receiving a larger rebate. There is only one tier for the smart thermostat. The maximum Baseline Level rebate available for an individual single-family home equipped with the higher-efficiency appliance models is $475. Once the Baseline Level appliances requirements are met, a builder may qualify for additional rebates from the Bonus Level that include:

•Natural gas clothes dryers
•Natural gas clothes washers
•Natural gas pool heaters
•Thermostatic valves for baths and showers
•In multi-family projects, a rebate is also available for demand-control recirculating pumps.
