Time flies when you are having fun.  We are having a very successful year at the Riverside County BIA and it is hard to believe that it is almost over as we advance into the last quarter of the year.   The Installation Dinner for our 2015 Board of Directors is scheduled for October where we will have several victories to celebrate.  Numerous battles have been won from preventing industry crippling fee increases in the Val Verde Unified School District to leveraging our relationships with local elected officials to turn the tide on a moratorium push in the City of Menifee.

Many successful events and continuing significant governmental relations achievements mark the exceptional results for our chapter this year.  Most notably our annual summer winery event, which was held at the Wilson Creek Winery this year attracted north of 500 people, a record number for this event! From valuable networking and social opportunities to wine, dinner, and cigar station festivities, it all made for a great event and I know that next years will be even better as our industry continues to make steady gains.  Next up, our casino style poker event at the Voodoo Lounge is ‘on the cards’ for September 19.   It is definitely a “can’t miss” event, so come join us and let the chips fall where they may.

Our events are great opportunities to meet new people, rekindle partnerships and working relationships to improve your prospects for doing more business in the homebuilding industry.  Our events for the year exceeded attendance expectations, including our Golf Tournament and Wine Tour, the Annual Economic Forecast, and our ever popular “Meet the Builder” event with the Orange County Chapter.

This year we continue to have incredible success with our Partnership Program, in which we partner with our members for all of the events of the year.  Thanks to all of our 2014 Partners who were able to use their partnership points to attend all of the events and allow us to increase the footprint of the BIA.  The time is now to be thinking about your budgets for next year and benefiting from the advantages of signing up for the partnership program for 2015.

Throughout this past year we have been working tirelessly on Governmental Relations issues, I have mentioned a few earlier.  We have had many successes this year in saving our homebuilding community millions in fees as well as stopping new regulations, moratoriums, and other governmental actions that would negatively affect our industry. This is an ongoing effort that requires constant vigilance.  Once a policy is in place, it is exponentially more difficult to undo the damage.  The message here is cautionary, we have had a good year, we are all hopeful that it continues and no evidence exists that it won’t, but clearly we are not out of the woods yet.

To conclude, it has been an extremely busy year for us here at your Riverside County BIA I am overwhelmingly proud of everyone’s accomplishments and hard work, we are looking forward to serving you in the future.  Thank you for all of your support.
